What is the Ralle Moto and MSC Moto connection?

In 2008 we (MSC Products Australia) appointed a distributor for our Dirt bike specific range of steering dampers but the company who was selling our products was not involved in the Adventure Duel sport market. At that point we decided to make a 2nd brand and give the adventure bike range the care it deserved. So now in 2015 if you see a MSC Moto steering damper or a Ralle Moto Damper you know its made by exactly the same people.

Where is MSC MOTO Steering Dampers made?

We manufacture all MSC Moto and Ralle-Moto steering damper kits in house here on the Central Coast of NSW Australia.

How often do I need to service my steering damper?

Servicing is dependent on many elements such as how much you ride, the terrain you commonly ride and the pace you ride. We say you usually need to service the damper at the same time you get your suspension serviced which is usually once a year. We have riders out there using old MSC dampers that are yet to serviced in some cases more than 5 years. We don't recommend leaving it this long as the oil will not be performing the way it should be after this time.

Once installed I notice the damper has no damping out at full steering angle?

This is the way the damper is designed, as you can imagine you do not need a damper to be working for making U-turns and movements out past 45 degrees. This function is helpful for some but unnoticeable for most unless you are garage racing up on the center stand!

I notice some differences in damping and slight movement in the pin on the full setting on my center stand?

This is called being a garage racer! We recommend you take your bike for a ride and test it where its meant to be used, out on the track. The steering damper is NOT a piece of gym equipment and is not there to dampen your arm muscles it dampens impacts to your front wheel. Also having you damper set on high when you ride means you are riding most probably at high speeds above 80 to 100kph. How often do you ever turn your handlebars back and forth rapidly at 100kph???

How high will the DownUnder mount raise my handlebars?

On a KTM it will raise the bars 25mm and on some other bikes like a Yamaha it will go up 30mm because of how far the steering stem protrudes through the triple clamp. We make a top mount with a bar pad so you do not need to put the damper under the handlebars to offer extra protection.

Do you have a Bar Pad?

YES! MSC Moto Axis steering damper is the only steering damper available that has a purpose made bar pad that covers the top and sides of the damper unit. You can still use the adjuster dial and the pad kit also has a post pin guard another first and only for steering dampers. This bar pad is 100% FREE when you purchase a top mount steering damper kit. The bar pad is also made at the MSC factory in our injection molding facility.

Do you have any steering dampers available for Road Bikes?

YES, as of Febuary in 2016 we will have a growing range of steering dampers with our new model called the TT3. This is the same kit we have great success with in the past 3 years of testing with riders Jed Metcher, Glenn Scott, Kyle Buckley, Michael Blair, Robbie Bugden, Jay Presepio and many more.

How hard is a steering damper to install?

In most cases you can install your new steering damper at home with a standard tool kit. Some bikes like the BMW R1200GS can be a better job for a mechanic but if you are unsure if you are up to the job give us a call and we will give you a detailed run down on the procedure for your exact bike.

Can I buy MSC Moto or Ralle Moto Adventure products from my bike shop?

Yes you can, we currently sell to around 100 active bikes shops and mechanic workshops around Australia.
